Society Code of Ethics

Article 1: Definitions

  • Members include all voting members, non-voting members, Board Members, Officers, Directors, Committee Members, and any other members of the Canadian Cybersecurity Advocacy Society as defined in the bylaws.
  • Board Members include all Board members, Officers, and Directors of the Canadian Cybersecurity Advocacy Society as defined in the bylaws.

Article 2: General Duties

  • Members must uphold the highest legal, ethical, and moral standard in service to the organization.
  • Members must be faithful to the organization's purpose and mission.
  • Members must act in the best interests of the organization and never use information obtained as a member for personal gain.
  • Members shall not attempt to and/or derive any personal profit or gain, directly or indirectly by reason of his or her participation in the organization.

Article 3: Board Duties

  • Board Members must support the integrity and reputation of the organization.
  • Board Members must use good judgment based on high ethical principles to guide the organization.
  • Board Members must refrain from any illegal, dishonest, or unethical conduct.
  • Board Members must comply with all applicable laws and regulations and hold accountable other Members in accordance with the letter and spirit of all relevant laws.
  • Board Members must act in a professional and businesslike manner, and treat others with respect.
  • Board Members must not leverage their position for any personal or professional gain.
  • Board Members must work to reduce waste and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization.
  • Board Members must act to prevent and eliminate discrimination throughout all activities of the organization.
  • Board Members must uphold confidentiality towards personal information, or any other sensitive information.
  • Board Members must portray the organization through public and private statements that are forthright and factual.
